When I was a kid, my brother and I wanted to know once and for all if the tooth fairy was real, so we devised a plan. As you may already know if you’ve been am-‘bush’-ed by them, our fuzz-protesting ‘gorilla’ marketing team took over the streets of New York City all day yesterday. They hit our Soho spa, Crunch Gym, and even attacked HQ (one poor staffer was unlucky enough to be biting into a freshly peeled banana when they arrived…)

The fun continues today, as the team stormed Sephora in Times Square this morning, and plans to picket their way through Union Square this afternoon. But it hasn’t just been about watching passersby do eye-popping double takes at the sight of bikini-clad gorillas (although that has been fun)—it’s been about protesting unwanted body hair, and handing out offer cards for 20% off signature brazilian bikini waxes at our spas, and 20% off fuzz-fighting and body-toning bestsellers in-spa and online. Here’s the thing: even though most guys act like they’re total ‘Tim The Tool Men’, I have a sneaking suspicion that when they walk through the cavernous aisles of Home Depot, they feel totally overwhelmed by the vast array of nail guns and drills laid before them. (Totally excited, yes—but also totally overwhelmed.)

When it comes to choosing the ‘tools’ to make ourselves look glam, any girl who’s ever browsed a beauty boutique has probably experienced the same feeling while staring down a wall of serums, baffled by the bevy of brands and benefits to choose from. But the difference between us and our Y-chromosomed counterparts is, we’re not afraid to ask.

Starting on August 4, you’ll get to do just that in our spas. Every Tuesday night, from 5-7pm, we’ll have our top technicians (from facialists to waxers) stationed on the floor of our spa stores, giving one-on-one shopping advice. So if you’re perplexed by peptide complexes and azelaic acids, want to know which foot file is most befitting or are just wondering whether you’re more of a Z. Bigatti or Zelens kind of gal, our expert techs will be there to answer any question you throw at them. Hello, my beauty-loving brood. I have some exciting news about our latest spa launch! But before I get into all that, I’d like to say that I’m sorry for being blasé about blogging, yet again. (For some reason, I’m hearing that “Too Late To Apologize” song playing over and over in my head.) I appreciate those of you who check the blog regularly, and I’m going to do my best to update more often. (Not that anyone wants excuses, but I actually took a little vacay, and—horror of horrors—got caught without my sunscreen and ended up a bit red. I’ve been hiding out in shame ever since, to avoid being scolded by everyone at HQ.)

Anyway… on to the big news: This Wednesday, July 8th, marks the official opening (or as we like to call it, ‘skin’-auguration) of our newest spa, Bliss Washington D.C.! Now our nation’s Capital can balance complexions as well as the budget, talk about waxes as much as taxes, and achieve true bi-‘pore’-tisanship. The space—just a stone’s throw from the Obamas’ pad—features our usual top-notch tension-fighting facilities and trademark Bliss touches, and will be the perfect spot for D.C. dwellers to exercise their First ‘Aah’-mendment right: the freedom of ‘spa’. Booking lines are now open, so snag your appointment and prepare for the most heated debate in town: Ginger Rub or Super Blissage?
